On behalf of the planning association Zillertal, financed by the BM for agriculture and forestry, environment and water management, organizationally supported by Wasser Tirol, a project on "Regional Identity in the Zillertal" was carried out using the text analysis procedure GABEK.
Now Martina Keiler has the project results in the play “The Zillertaler” creatively further processed and supplemented with a historical review.
The then GABEK project was intended to stimulate a vision for the Zillertal, in which a high quality of economic services, sustainability of development and a good coexistence of the participants should be combined. Volksbühne Aschau has accepted the challenge of combining text, stage design, specially composed music, exhibition and video installation into one complete work. Because the cohesion of a community always develops through products in which its members work together. The work of cultural professionals in Aschau is a model for how a future-oriented community or regional development can be initiated, because culture and art are successful if they are oriented towards the real world of life of those affected and their future visions.
The play is critical of the “Zillertaler” and is based on a GABEK study, which was carried out on behalf of the planning association nine years ago on this topic.
The piece critically illuminates our event-driven society, which is increasingly beginning to subordinate itself to the all-dominating economic thinking.
It stands in the conflict between prosperity and the preservation of values and traditions.
Questions are raised which the viewer must answer.
